My Knightly Dream

I dreamt a dream of bygone days to when I heard you say,
that I could be your shining knight and all the dragons slay,
I built you a palace upon a hill so all the world could see,
the lovely princess that I chose to live and die with me,
I'd plant some roses by the paths that I would lead you through,
to a life of love and romance were we could start anew,
There'd be no thorns to pierce your heart,nor tears to dim your eyes,
I'd leave no stones to bruise your feet and always make you smile,
But father time cannot turn back the clock to yonder days,
to my dreamtime longing for noble knightly ways,
I cannot live within my dreams but dragons I would slay,
If I could be your shining knight and with you always stay
