Warmth
by Roy K Austin
(England)
After the winter gloom, through spring that feeling of well - being to be bathed again in summer ; by a lake , sleepy, reflecting blue sky, a tired jetty's wooden legs waving down through cool water, and the odd, ripple of fish surfacing for may - fly, and in the distant trees again the hidden cuckoo, sounding ; that soft buzz that flickers by of damsel and dragon - fly, to pluck a bent shoot of green grass pondering the absurd, the thought that all these elemental things are not divinely caused or wrought, and have not converged with time to feed and please my soul. ..............................
